Track your order
Every order ships on Royal Mail Tracked 48, so there is a tracking number for every parcel. Here is how to use it and what each status actually means.
- Carrier
- Royal Mail Tracked 48
- Tracking sent
- By email at dispatch
- Typical transit
- 2 to 3 working days
Track with your Royal Mail number
Your tracking number is in the dispatch email we send the moment Royal Mail collects your parcel. It is sixteen characters and usually starts with two letters and ends with GB, for example AB123456789GB.
Enter your tracking number first. It is in your dispatch email.
This opens Royal Mail's tracking page in a new tab. We pass nothing to them except the number you type.
Track using your order number
If you have mislaid the dispatch email, enter your order number and the email address you used at checkout, and we will show you the current status.
Insert the WooCommerce order tracking form here.
In the WordPress editor, add a Shortcode block directly below this one and paste: — then delete this grey box.
What each status means
- Order receivedPayment has cleared and your order is in the queue. Nothing has been packed yet. You can still change the delivery address at this point by emailing us.
- PackedYour box has been made up by hand and labelled. Orders placed before 1pm on a working day reach this stage the same day.
- DispatchedRoyal Mail has collected the parcel from us and we have emailed you the tracking number. Tracking often shows nothing for the first few hours until the parcel is scanned at the first depot.
- In transitThe parcel is moving through the Royal Mail network. The status updates at each scan rather than continuously, so a quiet day does not mean the parcel has stopped.
- Out for deliveryIt is on a van and due today. Royal Mail usually delivers between 7am and 3pm.
- DeliveredSigned for, left in a safe place, or handed to a neighbour. The tracking page shows which, and where.
Tracking has not updated in days
Royal Mail scans parcels at specific points, not continuously, so a gap of a day or two is normal and does not mean anything has gone wrong. Delays are also more common in the weeks before Christmas.
A Tracked parcel is only treated as lost after ten working days from dispatch. Until then Royal Mail classes it as delayed and will not accept a claim. Once you pass that point, email us and we will send a replacement or refund you in full — you do not need to chase Royal Mail yourself.
It says delivered but nothing arrived
Check the tracking page first: it records where the parcel was left and whether a neighbour took it in. Then check any porch, bin store or side gate, and ask the people either side of you.
If it is still missing after that, email us within seven days of the delivery scan. We will open an enquiry with Royal Mail, which takes a few days, and we will sort out a replacement or refund once it concludes.
I entered the wrong address
Email us straight away. If the order has not been dispatched we can change it in minutes. Once it is with Royal Mail we cannot redirect it, and the parcel will either be delivered to the address given or returned to us after eighteen days.
If it comes back to us, we refund the cost of the goods but not the £5 postage, and we can send it out again once you pay for a new delivery.
Sent as a gift
Tracking is emailed to the person who placed and paid for the order, never to the recipient, so a surprise stays a surprise. The recipient sees no prices, no invoice and no packing note with values on it.
Still need a hand?Email contact@giftboxbritain.com with your order number and a person will reply within one working day.
